Do anti-escape dog fences really work?

Whether for a small, medium, large dog, stubborn or not, yes, anti-escape fences work really well! A success rate of around 99%.

But here are 3 reasons why anti-escape systems may not work properly.

Low-end invisible barrier.

Low-end anti-escape fences at $100 and less may seem like a good deal, but it is only an illusion.

Its systems are sold with a wire of dubious quality, a tiny cable that risks breaking once a year if not more.

In addition to ensuring wire cuts, these systems are often very imprecise, sounding almost everywhere on the field, which has the effect of confusing the dog.

So these systems should be avoided, because you will never have peace of mind.

Ill-adjusted anti-elopement collar.

The anti-elopement collar must be very well adjusted, especially during the learning period.

To do this, the contact points must touch your dog's skin.

Tighten the collar to allow only one finger to pass through.

If your dog has long hair, use the long contact points included in the kit.

You can also lightly trim the hair, not shave it, just remove a small layer.

A unique and interesting feature on the PetSafe Yardmax , when you place the collar on your dog, as soon as it is properly adjusted, it will emit a ''Click Click'' sound which indicates to you that it is ready to be used.

No training was done.

A training period of 2 weeks is necessary and only requires a few minutes per day.

A few minutes a day will help your dog understand the limit not to be crossed.

The dog will learn very quickly, in most cases they will take the shock 2 times, then for the rest of the year they will stay away and not go beyond the warning sound.

The steps to follow are listed in the user guide for each anti-escape system.

In conclusion :

Buy a good system, make sure the collar fits well, follow the short learning period and your dog will be completely safe on your property.
