Tick Mitt: the natural, reusable tick-removal glove you need in Quebec

The Tick Mitt is an innovative glove designed to quickly and easily remove ticks from your dog (and even from yourself), without tweezers, without chemicals, and without stress. Just run your hand over your companion’s coat, and the ticks cling to the glove’s specially designed fabric. A natural, safe solution that is especially valuable in Estrie and in regions at risk for Lyme disease.

Why the Tick Mitt is essential in Quebec

Estrie has become one of the regions most affected by Lyme disease in Canada. Human and canine cases have exploded over the past 15 years. Prevention is now a must, especially after every walk in the woods, on trails, or in tall grass.

Why choose the Tick Mitt?

  • 100% natural: no sprays, no pesticides, no chemicals
  • Safe for your dog and for yourself
  • Ultra-fast: just one pass of the hand, and the ticks cling to the fabric
  • More effective than tweezers for post-walk checks
  • Reusable forever: washable and durable
  • Compact and lightweight: slips into your pocket or walking bag
  • Works on dogs, cats, and humans
  • Ideal after every walk in the woods, in a park, or in tall grass
  • Preventive approach: removes ticks BEFORE they attach

How does the Tick Mitt work?

The secret of the Tick Mitt lies in its specially designed fabric whose fibers are fine enough to capture ticks (even the tiniest nymphs!) while gliding over the coat. When you run your gloved hand over your dog, ticks that haven’t bitten yet simply stick to the fabric.

Directions for use

  1. After every walk in a risk area, put on the Tick Mitt
  2. Run your hand over your dog’s entire body: chest, belly, ears, inner thighs, under the tail (ticks’ favorite spots)
  3. Check the glove regularly: captured ticks stay stuck to it
  4. Remove the ticks from the glove and dispose of them (alcohol or boiling water)
  5. Wash the glove between uses to maintain its effectiveness

⚠️ Important : if you find a tick already attached and swollen on your dog, use tick tweezers (or see your vet) rather than the glove. The Tick Mitt is designed to remove surface ticks, before they attach deeply.

When should you use the Tick Mitt?

  • 🌲 After every walk in the woods or on a wooded trail
  • 🌾 After a hike in tall grass
  • 🏞️ After a stay at the cottage or in a rural area
  • 🐾 Every day from spring to fall (tick season in Quebec)
  • 🐕 Before coming home to prevent ticks from getting in
  • 👤 On yourself after outdoor activity (the glove works on humans too!)

Tick Mitt vs. other methods

🟢 Tick Mitt (this product)

✅ Benefits : fast, natural, preventive, reusable, chemical-free

⚠️ Limits : less effective on ticks that are already attached

🔵 Tick tweezers

✅ Benefits : very effective on ticks that are already attached

⚠️ Limits : slow, stressful for the dog, requires precision

🟡 Chemical sprays

✅ Benefits : long-lasting action

⚠️ Limits : contains chemicals, some dogs are sensitive to them

🔵 Antiparasitic medications (Bravecto, NexGard, etc.)

✅ Benefits : very effective, internal action for several weeks

⚠️ Limits : prescription required, possible side effects, recurring cost

💡 The Tick Mitt is NOT a substitute for antiparasitic medications prescribed by your vet. It is an ideal complement for everyday prevention after outings.

Care instructions

  • Washing : machine wash (gentle cycle) or hand wash with mild soap
  • Drying : air dry, no tumble dryer
  • Service life : reusable indefinitely as long as the fabric remains in good condition
  • Storage : in a dry place, away from direct light

When should you see your vet?

See your vet promptly if :

  • You find a tick already attached and swollen on your dog (for species identification and possible Lyme testing)
  • Your dog shows unusual symptoms after a bite: fatigue, fever, intermittent limping, loss of appetite
  • You live in a very high-risk area and want a complete prevention plan (medication + Tick Mitt + Lyme vaccination)

🦠 Lyme disease in Estrie

Estrie is one of the highest-risk regions in Quebec. Ticks (Ixodes scapularis, blacklegged ticks) are active as soon as the temperature rises above 4 °C. Daily prevention is essential to protect your dog and your family.

Sherbrooke Canin tip

The Tick Mitt is part of our spring-summer prevention selection. We live in a risk area, and we use this glove after every forest outing with Fidji, our Australian Shepherd. Simple, effective, natural: a product we truly recommend to all dog owners living in Estrie or heading out regularly for outdoor activities.

Important note : the Tick Mitt is a complementary prevention tool. It does not replace a veterinary visit if a tick is already attached, nor a prescribed antiparasitic treatment. If in doubt, consult your vet for a complete plan tailored to your dog and your region.
