Food grade organic diatomaceous earth. 100% pure.

Food-grade organic diatomaceous earth is also known as fossil meal, and comes from the fossilized remains of “hard-shelled” algae known as diatoms. They are harvested and ground to obtain a very fine powder.

Dietary diatomaceous earth is a safe, non-toxic form of insect control. Diatomite is the fossilized remains of a microscopic unicellular aquatic plant known as a diatom (algae). A crystalline shell protects these tiny organisms. When organisms die, the shells pile up on the bottom of oceans and lakes to form deposits. These deposits are then extracted from the underwater bed or ground or processed for a variety of uses.

When fossil meal is used in agriculture, it must be ground until it is completely amorphous. This means that it will no longer have any crystalline form that can cause harm to larger organisms. Instead, it contains microscopic sharp walls, which can easily attach to the backs and hairs of small insects. It works its way through their protective wax, and the insect eventually becomes so dehydrated that it dies.

Dietary Diatomaceous Earth contains 15 beneficial trace elements and eliminates parasites and worms such as nematodes, roundworms, pinworms and hookworms in 7 days of daily consumption. Give your pet diatomaceous earth for a minimum of 30 days to ensure that any developing worms are destroyed. It can also be lightly rubbed on the fur or sprinkled on your pet's bed to kill fleas, ticks, lice and mites. Ideal in the house to get rid of silverfish, cockroaches, bed fleas, earwigs, ants and many other insects.

Diatomaceous earth has no chemical toxicity and is safe for internal and external use. This is an extremely effective way to eliminate pests without using chemical agents. Even though it is 99.5% amorphous silica, diatomaceous earth should not be inhaled.
