How does an in-ground pet fence work?
An in-ground fence works by sending a radio signal through a buried boundary wire (up to 4500 feet). Your pet wears a receiver collar that picks up the signal. When your pet approaches the boundary, the receiver collar will beep to alert your pet that they have entered the warning zone. If they continue to venture further, the receiver collar will emit a safe but surprising correction, like the static you feel if you drag your feet on a carpet and then touch a doorknob.

How do I train my dog to learn the fenced area?
You'll want to make sure you spend time regularly training your dog so they learn where their new boundary area is. We recommend this fence for dogs 6 months of age and older, depending on your dog's cognitive development. A puppy should be able to consistently respond to basic commands such as "come" and "sit" before they are ready to begin training with any type of static correction collar. It takes approximately one month to train your pet to use their new play area until they can safely move around on their own.

Can I use this in-ground pet fence for my cat?
Yes, this fence can be used for cats if they weigh 5 lbs or more and if the collar fits comfortably. You can also purchase a flexible collar strap for cats that fits neck sizes up to 11 1/2 inches.
