🐄 Why focus on red meats?
The red meats (beef, lamb, pork) are sources of heme iron that is highly bioavailable, vitamin B12 and zinc. They are also very palatable for most dogs. For those who get tired of poultry or are allergic to it, it's a natural alternative.
🌾 Classic Red Meat vs Ranchlands: how do you choose?
Both are Acana poultry-free recipes based on red meats. Classic Red Meat is the entry-level option with grains : a simpler, more affordable recipe. Ranchlands is premium: grain-free, with a wider variety of proteins (including bison and freshwater fish), and a freeze-dried coating. For a sensitive dog without the budget, Classic Red Meat gets the job done. For more pronounced sensitivities or a larger budget, Ranchlands or Orijen Regional Red are better.

Not more than other proteins for a healthy dog. The quality of the source matters more than the type of meat. If your dog has a sensitive digestive system, we can do a slower transition (14 to 21 days).
Red meats are generally very palatable. Allow 10 to 14 days for a smooth transition from another food.
