Open Farm is a Canadian company headquartered in Toronto. Available in 4 lb, 11 lb, and 22 lb sizes.
Grass-fed lamb + authentic ancient grains + zero legumes
Certified Humane pasture-raised lamb + oats + millet + brown rice + quinoa + chia seeds. 26% protein, 15% fat, boosted with 0.2% taurine. Alternative protein for dogs sensitive to chicken or beef.
Why ancient grains instead of wheat or corn?
Oats, millet, brown rice, and quinoa are true ancient whole grains, cultivated for thousands of years. Unlike modern wheat and corn, they are minimally processed, gluten-free or low in gluten, and offer a much richer nutritional profile : soluble fiber, complementary plant proteins, B vitamins, manganese, magnesium, and natural antioxidants.
Pasture-raised, grass-fed lamb
The lamb in this recipe is raised on open pasture and grass-fed, just as it would live in nature. This results in meat that is richer in omega-3s and CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), with an authentic flavor. Partner farms are certified Certified Humane®.
Radical traceability: the Open Farm signature
Open Farm is one of the only brands in the world to offer full traceability: a lot code printed on the bag makes it possible to identify the farms and suppliers that contributed to that exact batch.

The Grain-Free Lamb recipe uses legumes (chickpeas, lentils) as the carbohydrate source. The Lamb with Ancient Grains recipe uses ancient grains instead (oats, millet, brown rice, quinoa) and excludes legumes. Same quality of Certified Humane grass-fed lamb, different carbohydrate approach.
Yes. Lamb is an uncommon protein in dog food, so it is less likely to have already triggered an allergy. It is an excellent choice for dogs sensitive to common meats.
The pasture-raised, grass-fed lamb has a superior nutritional profile to pen-raised lamb: more natural omega-3s, more CLA, more fat-soluble vitamins. It is also a more respectful approach to animal welfare and the environment.
Open Farm chose to add taurine in a generous amount (0.2%) across its ancient grains line as added support for heart function.
Open Farm Lamb with Ancient Grains is our choice for dogs sensitive to common meats who want a protein rotation, without legumes. Grass-fed lamb combined with complex grains for a nutritious and authentic recipe. Traceable, sustainable, Canadian brand.
