The Nature's Hug Adult Indoor Cat food is a fully plant-based kibble, specifically formulated for cats who spend their days at home. Rich in special fibers (miscanthus grass) to help with the natural elimination of hairballs, controlled calories for less active cats, and 30% plant protein to preserve muscle mass.
🌱 100% plant-based, made for indoor cats
Rich fiber (9%) for hairball control, added taurine, adjusted profile for indoor cats. No meat, no fish, no grain.
🧢 How does miscanthus grass help with hairballs?
Miscanthus grass is a plant fiber that is especially effective at regulating intestinal transit. When a cat grooms itself, it swallows hair. If transit is slow, the hair builds up in the stomach and ends up being brought back up. The fibers speed up passage and allow for natural elimination through the stool rather than regurgitation.
⚠️ Important: the cat is an obligate carnivore
Unlike dogs (omnivores), cats are obligate carnivores. A plant-based recipe for cats is viable only if it rigorously meets specific needs (taurine, preformed vitamin A, arachidonic acid). Nature's Hug does that. This recipe is more suitable in specific cases (multiple allergies, carefully considered ethical choice) than as a standard diet. For cats with no food issues, a meat-based recipe is often the most natural choice.

| Cat weight | Daily amount (approx.) |
|---|---|
| 3 kg (6.6 lb) | 1/3 cup |
| 4 kg (8.8 lb) | 1/2 cup |
| 5 kg (11 lb) | 5/8 cup |
| 6 kg (13 lb) | 3/4 cup |
Important: fresh water should always be available, ideally in several places around the home. A water fountain can encourage drinking.
After the transition (10-14 days), most owners notice an improvement within 2 to 4 weeks. Stools often become a little larger (that's normal with fiber).
Yes, as long as the recipe is complete and properly formulated (in the case of Nature's Hug: added taurine, essential amino acids, synthetic vitamins). That said, it is better suited to specific cases (confirmed multiple allergies, carefully considered ethical choice). For a cat with no food issues, we also have excellent meat-based recipes to suggest.
No. This recipe is also suitable for cats with limited outdoor access.
For indoor seniors who have hairballs, yes. Otherwise, Nature's Hug Senior is more appropriate (reduced fat, higher digestibility).
Nature's Hug is a Canadian brand with a unique approach. This indoor hairball recipe is an interesting option for cats with multiple allergies AND a hairball issue. Have a question? Our team will be happy to help.
