⚠️ DANGER FOR CATS — This product contains permethrin, which is toxic and potentially fatal to cats. Never use on a cat. If you have a cat in the household, keep it separate from the treated dog for at least 24 hours after application, and prevent it from licking or touching the dog until completely dry.

Who is this product for?

K9 Advantix II is a monthly, broad-spectrum topical treatment for dogs and puppies 7 weeks and older, weighing 1.4 kg (3 lbs) or more. It is one of the most comprehensive parasite preventatives on the market, recommended by veterinarians. It is particularly suitable if you are looking for:

  • Comprehensive 5-target protection — fleas, ticks, lice, mosquitoes, and stable flies
  • Protection against Lyme disease — kills deer ticks (Ixodes scapularis), the main vector of Lyme disease in Quebec, where cases have been sharply increasing since 2020
  • Pre-bite preventative action — parasites die on contact with the skin, without needing to bite your dog
  • A waterproof formula that remains effective after shampooing, bathing, or swimming
  • A repellent effect against mosquitoes and stable flies, which can transmit diseases
  • Simple and quick application — just one application per month
  • A veterinarian-recommended approach for active dogs, those who frequent forests, trails, dog parks, or rural areas

Active ingredients

  • Imidacloprid 8.8% — kills adult fleas on contact by interfering with their nervous system
  • Permethrin 44% — repels and kills ticks, mosquitoes, and stable flies. ⚠️ This ingredient is toxic to cats — never use on a cat.
  • Pyriproxyfen 0.44% — growth regulator that prevents the development of flea eggs and larvae

How it works

K9 Advantix II is applied to the skin, along the dog's back. From there, it spreads evenly in a thin layer over the skin surface and attaches to the sebum, rather than being absorbed into the bloodstream.

When parasites such as fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, or lice come into contact with the treated dog's skin, their nervous system is immediately affected. Parasites quickly lose coordination and die — without having to bite your dog. This protects your pet from the discomfort of bites and can help prevent the transmission of diseases such as Lyme disease, heartworm, or anaplasmosis.

Dosage selection by weight

Variant For whom?
Very small dog Dogs weighing less than 4.5 kg (10 lbs) — Yorkshire, Chihuahua, Maltese, etc.
Small dog Dogs weighing between 4.6 and 11 kg (10 to 25 lbs) — Bichon, Cavalier King Charles, Beagle, etc.
Medium dog Dogs weighing between 11 and 25 kg (25 to 55 lbs) — Border Collie, Cocker, Bulldog, etc.
Large dog Dogs weighing more than 25 kg (55 lbs) — Labrador, German Shepherd, Golden, etc.

Instructions for use

  1. Remove one tube from its packaging and hold it upright, with the cap facing up
  2. Break off the tip of the tube by bending the cap
  3. For dogs under 11 kg: apply the entire contents of the tube at the base of the neck, between the shoulder blades
  4. For dogs over 11 kg: apply the contents at 3 or 4 spots along the back, from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, parting the hair to reach the skin
  5. Allow to dry completely (about 24 hours) before wetting, bathing, or allowing another animal to touch your dog
  6. Repeat application once a month for continuous protection

🚨 Critical precautions for households with cats

Permethrin is deadly to cats. If you have a cat in the household:

  • Completely separate the cat and dog during application and for at least 24 hours afterward
  • Prevent the cat from licking, touching, or lying on the dog until completely dry (ideally 48 hours)
  • Do not let the cat use the same bedding or blankets as the treated dog within 48 hours of application
  • In case of accidental exposure (cat licking or stepping on the dog), consult a veterinarian immediately — this is a medical emergency

Important precautions

  • External use only — do not ingest
  • For dogs 7 weeks and older only, weighing 1.4 kg (3 lbs) or more
  • Never use on a cat or rabbit — permethrin is toxic to these species
  • Avoid contact with your dog's eyes and mouth
  • Wash your hands after application
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Avoid direct contact with the product for 24 hours after application
  • Slight local irritation may occur; it usually disappears quickly
  • Discontinue use and consult a veterinarian if you observe unusual signs (excessive salivation, lethargy, tremors, convulsions, loss of appetite)
  • Do not use on sick, weakened, or elderly dogs without veterinary advice

Package contents

2 doses = 2 months of treatment. Each box contains 2 pre-dosed single-use tubes.

💡 Ideal for trying the product or for occasional protection (summer season, travel to tick-infested areas, hiking in the forest). For year-round protection, opt for a more economical prorated format.

Seasonal recommendation in Quebec

In Quebec, the tick season generally extends from March to November, but can begin as soon as the temperature exceeds 4 °C. For optimal protection against Lyme disease, it is recommended to treat your dog continuously during this period, especially if you frequent forests, hiking trails, dog parks, or rural areas.

Storage

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
