🐷 Certified Humane Canadian pork + authentic ancient grains + zero legumes
Humanely raised pork + oats + millet + brown rice + quinoa + chia seeds. 26% protein, 15% fat, with boosted taurine at 0.2%. Alternative protein for dogs sensitive to chicken or beef.
🌾 Why ancient grains instead of wheat or corn?
Oats, millet, brown rice, and quinoa are authentic ancient whole grains, grown for thousands of years. Unlike modern wheat and corn, they are minimally processed, gluten-free or low in gluten, and offer a much richer nutritional profile: soluble fiber, complementary plant proteins, B vitamins, manganese, magnesium, and natural antioxidants. They are also better tolerated by most dogs.
🐷 Certified Humane®: humanely raised Canadian pork
The pork in this recipe carries the Certified Humane® certification: farming conditions with adequate space, feed without routine antibiotics, and respectful slaughter. Open Farm sources from long-standing Canadian family farms partners.
🔍 Radical traceability: the Open Farm signature
Open Farm is one of the only brands in the world to offer full traceability: a lot code printed on the bag lets you identify the farms and suppliers that contributed to that exact batch. Radical transparency that goes beyond standard certifications.

The Pork and Vegetables grain-free recipe uses pork combined with root vegetables (sweet potato, squash, beet) and legumes. The current recipe (Pork with Ancient Grains) uses pork combined with ancient grains (oats, millet, brown rice, quinoa) and excludes legumes and potatoes. Choose based on your dog’s preferences.
Yes. Pork is a less common alternative protein in conventional foods, so it’s less likely to have already triggered an allergy. It’s an excellent choice for dogs sensitive to chicken or beef.
Most dogs tolerate ancient grains like oats, millet, brown rice, and quinoa very well. True grain allergies are rare (about 1 to 2% of dogs). The most common sensitivities involve wheat, corn, and soy, which are not present in this recipe.
Open Farm chose to add taurine in a generous amount (0.2%) across its ancient grain dog line as added support for heart function. Taurine is an amino acid dogs can normally synthesize, but direct intake is a plus for maintaining good heart health.
Each bag has a lot code that identifies the farms and suppliers that contributed to that exact batch. It’s a unique level of transparency in the industry.
Open Farm Pork with Ancient Grains is our pick for dogs sensitive to chicken or beef who want a protein rotation beyond common meats, without relying on legumes. Humanely raised Canadian pork combined with complex grains makes this a versatile and tasty recipe. Traceable, sustainable, Canadian brand.
