The Acana freeze-dried duck bites are a complete raw food in freeze-dried form, pre-cut into ready-to-serve bites. 90% animal ingredients: duck with ground bone, turkey with ground bone, chicken and turkey organ meats, plus whole herring and turkey bone broth. Cold freeze-dried to preserve raw nutrients. Formulated for all AAFCO life stages, including growth of large breed dogs. Bite-sized format is ideal for high-value rewards or a quick topper. 227 g bag.
❄️ Ready bites: multi-poultry + organ meats, highest protein profile
Same recipe as Acana freeze-dried duck patties, in a pre-cut bite format. 90% animal, multi-poultry (duck + turkey + chicken organs), grain-free, AAFCO all life stages including large breed. 3,950 kcal/kg.
| Criteria | 227g Bites | 397g Patties |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Ready-to-serve bites | Patties to crumble |
| Primary use | Reward, snack, quick topper | Substantial topper, travel meal |
| Bag format | More compact | More economical per kg |
Ready bite format: ideal for training sessions. More effective than an ordinary treat for working on challenging behaviors: recall, anti-escape, veterinary handling.
A handful of bites directly on your dog's kibble ration to boost nutritional value and palatability.
Compact, lightweight, no refrigeration. Can be used as a complete meal for short periods. Lightly rehydrate with warm water to increase hydration.
❄️ Why freeze-dried instead of frozen?
The freeze-drying process (freeze-drying) involves freezing the ingredients and then removing the water under vacuum at very low temperature. Result: all raw nutrients are preserved without a freezer or messy handling. The finished product is shelf-stable at room temperature.
🐶 Why is this recipe suitable for large breed puppies?
The duck recipe is formulated AAFCO for all life stages, including growth of dogs that will weigh >70 lb as adults. This is thanks to controlled calcium levels suited to bone growth in these puppies, who need to avoid growing too quickly.

Duck with ground bone, turkey with ground bone, chicken organs (liver, heart, gizzard), whole herring, pumpkin, natural fish flavor, turkey organs (liver, heart, gizzard), calcium carbonate, turkey bone broth, organic butternut squash, organic carrots, organic pears, dried chicory root, turmeric, dried kelp, tocopherol mix (preservative), vitamins (vitamin E supplement, niacin, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid, vitamin B12 supplement), minerals (zinc proteinate, copper proteinate), citric acid (preservative), rosemary extract.
1 to 3 pieces per rewarded behavior repetition. For a 15-20 minute session, count on 10 to 20 pieces. Adjust regular daily rations to compensate.
A handful on your dog's regular kibble ration. Adjust the kibble amount to prevent weight gain.
About 5 to 7 pieces per kg of the dog's weight per day, divided into 2 meals. Lightly rehydrate.
Storage: at room temperature in the resealed bag. Once opened, use within 4 to 6 weeks.
Same ingredients, same process, same quality. The format changes: the bites are pre-cut into ready-to-serve pieces, perfect for rewards or quick toppers. The patties can be crumbled by hand, making them more practical for substantial toppers.
Not recommended. Although duck and turkey are the main proteins, the recipe contains chicken organs. For a dog with a strict chicken allergy, look instead at the beef recipe (red meat single protein).
Yes, this is one of the 3 recipes (along with turkey and chicken) formulated to AAFCO all life stages, including growth of large breed dogs.
Acana freeze-dried duck bites are our choice for dogs that like varied poultry or for large breed puppies during their growth phase.
