The Nature's Hug Junior food for miniature and small-breed puppies is a fully plant-based kibble, formulated for growth. No animal protein: the proteins come from legumes, potato, and an innovative mycoprotein (from fermentation). A premium formula for puppies with multiple allergies, and for owners who want an ethical start.
🌱 100% plant-based, formulated for growth
27% plant-based protein, calcium and phosphorus adjusted for growth (1.4% / 1.2%), all essential amino acids and added taurine. No meat, no fish, no grain : the rare solution for a puppy with multiple allergies.
🤔 What is mycoprotein?
Mycoprotein is a protein obtained by fermenting a natural fungus (mycorrhiza). It is rich in essential amino acids, naturally well tolerated, and offers a very complete protein profile. It is a recent innovation in pet nutrition that adds quality to traditional plant-based sources.
🤔 Is a plant-based food for a puppy viable?
The dog is omnivorous and can digest a well-formulated plant-based diet, even during growth. The key is to provide all essential amino acids, taurine, and an adjusted calcium/phosphorus ratio from other sources. That is exactly what Nature's Hug Junior does: the recipe meets the nutritional requirements of canine growth.

For small-breed puppies, the portion depends on their age and their estimated adult weight. Growth is rapid (8-12 months on average). For an exact calculation based on your puppy, contact our team: we'll help you determine the right portion and plan the transition to adult food. Fresh water should always be available.
Yes, as long as the recipe is complete and properly formulated for growth (as is the case with Nature's Hug Junior). Dogs are omnivores and can get their nutrients from plant sources if all essential amino acids, taurine, and a good calcium/phosphorus ratio are provided.
Small breeds reach maturity faster (often around 8 to 12 months). After that, Nature's Hug Adult small breed is the logical next step.
That's one of its biggest advantages. Since it contains no animal protein, it removes the most common allergens at once (chicken, beef, lamb, fish). If your puppy has tried several recipes without success, Nature's Hug is often the solution.
Most puppies accept the transition very well. The natural flavor and superfoods make the recipe appetizing. For a gentle transition, we recommend 10-14 days rather than 7.
Nature's Hug is a Canadian brand we appreciate for its unique philosophy and rigorous formulation. It is our preferred solution for puppies with multiple allergies and for owners looking for an ethical choice. Have a question about the transition or the right dosage? Our team will be happy to help.
