⚡ Why does a small breed puppy need a specific formula?
Small breeds have a proportionally faster metabolism. They burn more energy per pound and their growth is fast and short (10-12 months on average, versus 18-24 months for a large breed). A specific small breed formula offers smaller kibble (better suited to their jaw) and a dense energy profile to support this rapid growth in a small stomach.

The DHA (marine omega-3) is a building block for the brain and retina. During the first few months, the puppy's brain grows at full speed, and DHA intake influences learning ability, memory, and visual acuity. The fish oil and herring in Acana Small Breed Puppy naturally provide this DHA.

The ration depends on the puppy's current weight and estimated adult weight. For puppies under 4 months old, 3 to 4 meals a day are usually given. Small puppies have tiny stomachs: it's best to divide food into several small meals. For very small puppies (under 1 kg), you can slightly moisten the kibble with warm water at first. Fresh water should always be available.
The kibble size : Small Breed Puppy has smaller kibble, better suited to growing small mouths. The nutritional profile is very similar.
For small breeds: until about 10-12 months. The transition to Acana Small Breed Adult happens at that time, over 10-14 days.
Small puppies have tiny stomachs: they eat little at a time. As long as you see the puppy gaining weight regularly and being playful, everything is fine. For truly picky puppies, you can moisten the kibble with warm water to increase palatability.
