🦴 Why a formula specific to large breeds?
Large-breed dogs are more prone to joint issues (osteoarthritis, dysplasia) because of their weight. A large-breed-specific formula adjusts the calcium to support bone health, reduces energy compared with a generic adult formula (large breeds are often less active for their weight than a medium or small dog) and offers large kibble that slows chewing and promotes better digestion.
Fresh chicken (16 %) as the first ingredient + chicken meal (15 %) to concentrate protein intake.

For an adult dog weighing over 25 kg, the large-breed formula is better suited (adjusted calcium, larger kibble).
Orijen Adult Large Breed goes further (85 % animal ingredients, added glucosamine and chondroitin, taurine, L-carnitine). Acana Adult Large Breed offers an excellent recipe at a more affordable price. For a large dog for joint prevention or already showing sensitivities, Orijen is often worth the investment. For a healthy large dog with no particular issues, Acana is an excellent choice.
