The Acana Adult food is the signature recipe of Acana's Heritage range. Made in Canada (Alberta) by Champion Petfoods, in the same factory as its premium sibling Orijen. Animal multi-protein (fresh chicken, turkey, hake, herring, eggs, offal), no added grain, energy-rich for active adult dogs, all at a more affordable price than the Orijen range.

Same manufacturer as Orijen, same Canadian factory, same multi-protein commitment. Acana offers an excellent animal-ingredient ratio with a larger share of meals (concentrated) rather than all fresh, which makes the recipe more affordable. No added grain ingredients.
🤔 Acana vs Orijen: what's the difference?
Both brands are made in Canada by the same producer (Champion Petfoods, Alberta). Orijen goes further with 85 % animal ingredients that are mostly fresh or raw, greater protein diversity, and a higher protein ratio. Acana keeps the same no-added-grain multi-protein philosophy, but uses more meals (concentrated) than fresh meats, which makes the recipe more affordable while still being well above standard brands. It's an excellent choice when you want Champion Petfoods expertise without Orijen pricing.
🍗 Meals vs fresh meat: what that means
Fresh meat contains about 70 % water. Once dried into meal, it loses that water and becomes ~3 to 4 times more concentrated in protein. So 20 % chicken meal is protein-equivalent to about 65 to 80 % fresh chicken. Both forms have their place: fresh meat brings flavor and palatability, meal brings protein concentration. Acana combines the two.
Fresh chicken (21 %) as the first ingredient for palatability, combined with chicken meal (20 %) to concentrate protein intake. An approach that maximizes protein and taste at the same time.
Turkey meal (7 %), fresh chicken offal (liver, heart) (4 %), fresh eggs (4 %), raw hake (4 %), herring meal (3 %), raw turkey liver (0.5 %). Protein diversity remains a pillar of the brand.
Fish oil (3.5 %) and herring meal (3 %) : a natural source of DHA and EPA for skin, coat, joints, and heart.

Fresh chicken as the first ingredient ensures excellent palatability. Acana is generally very well accepted by dogs, even the picky ones. Allow 10 to 14 days for a smooth transition from another food.
